Surrey MSW-to-biofuel plant seen commissioning in June

April 11, 2017 |

In Canada, the long-awaited MSW-to-biofuel plant in Surrey is preparing for commissioning in June, making it North America’s first plant of such kind. Waste collection trucks and other city vehicles will be fueled with the natural gas produced at the facility, something that is expected to make the city either the first in British Columbia or in Canada to be carbon neutral. Emissions in the city are estimated to reduce by 40,000 metric tons as a result of the project.
