DDGS prices fall 47% since June high as Chinese demand slides

April 13, 2017 |

In China, imports of US DDGS have fallen by 69% on the year during the six months through February as the country continues to lob tariffs on imports of both ethanol and its byproduct. US exports of DDGS have fallen to 10-year-lows on the back of the trade spat, so with lack of demand comes falling prices, recently running at 47% lower than its high last June of $92.5 per short ton. Lower DDGS priced mixed with lower ethanol prices due to record production and huge stocks could see profitability fall for some producers.
