Indonesian palm oil industry says EU jeopardizing its own economy by shying away from CPO biodiesel

In Indonesia, the palm oil industry strongly believes that the European Parliament’s vote to ban palm oil for biodiesel production by 2020 is detrimental to the European economy because it is the cheapest feedstock for biofuel and requires far less land for the same yields as rapeseed or soy. The Indonesian government is pushing back against the European policy shift, even though it is not a ban nor anything stronger than a suggestion for the direction European policy should go.
