Platts sees crush margin down at 24.43 cents per gallon

May 2, 2017 |

In Texas, Platts’ crush margin tracker shows that the crush margin fell last week to 24.43 cents per gallon, down 7.57 cents from April 24. Though ethanol production remained steady and well off the highs thanks to maintenance season with many facilities offline, falling demand led to increased stocks that in turn weighed on ethanol prices, pressuring the crush margin lower. Corn planting has been delayed by unseasonal rains, helping to push corn prices higher, further squeezing the margin.
