UAE UCO recycler promoting collection for biodiesel at Dubai schools

In the UAE, in an effort to sensitize parents and children about the environmental impact of improper disposal of used cooking oil, Dubai’s Blue waste management company has teamed with local schools to promote UCO collection for later processing into biodiesel. Though the program began as a competition between five schools, permanent UCO collecting bins have been established to continue the sensitization program started among students and families. The company currently collects about 190,000 liters of UCO monthly from 2,000 restaurants around the emirate.
