In Minnesota, Al-Corn expects its $146 million expansion project to be ready three months early in April 2018. The expansion that began in mid-December will add 70 million gallons of production capacity including installation of ethanol holding tanks, a dryer, and a regenerative thermal oxidizer on top of Dried Distiller’s Grain silos and hammermill structure. The expansion that is meant to be the company’s baseline for the next 20 years will make the facility the state’s second-largest ethanol plant behind Guardian Energy.
