China New Energy scores $16.8 million in new EPC contracts for Chinese corn ethanol plants

In the UK, China New Energy has been awarded $16.8 million worth of new EPC contracts to build seven corn-based ethanol plants in northern and western China that will add additional production capacity of 529,000 metric tons per year, all of which should be commissioned next year. The company already announced projects for COFCO and Supercare Group. The huge uptake in ethanol production is a result of the government’s push to eat through its unmanageable corn stocks.
