Chinese investors developing biomass-fueled thermal power plants in Ukraine

In the Ukraine, Chinese companies are looking to develop biomass-fueled thermal power plants with local partners. Shandong Qingneng Power is looking at a plant in the Lviv region although details on the project including partners and plant size are not yet confirmed, while Xi’an ShaanGu Power is looking to build a 6.7MW facility in the Zhytomyr region. As of 2016, the country had 35MWe of biomass-fueled power plants installed. Ukraine has been pushing hard for foreign investment in renewable energy, calling for $18 billion in investments.
