German biogas plant successfully scales up to one of the country’s largest

July 3, 2017 |

In Germany, one of the country’s largest biogas projects has come online in Groß Pankow, producing 8.5MW of heat and gas for about 16,000 households from 70,000 metric tons of cattle slurry, 7,000 tons of solid manure and 50,000 tons of corn silage. The facility scales up a previous project at the same site producing 800kW of heat and gas since 2014. The biogas is cleaned using a physio-organic washing process. Improved policy frameworks have made projects like this more viable.
