Estonia wind power company dips into cogeneration and wood pellets

July 4, 2017 |

In Estonia, wind energy-company Nelja Energia has diversified into wood pellet production and power cogeneration with a new EUR30 million facility commissioned last month in Brocēni. The plant will produce 19.4MWe of thermal power along with nearly 4MW of electricity that will power the pellet production facility. More than 120,000 metric tons of wood pellets will be produced at the plant, most of which will be exported to European markets. Test runs of the pellet production earlier this year proved successful.
