China to provide farmers subsidies for installing biogas plants

In China, the Ministry of Agriculture announced a plan to provide farmers subsidies in order to transform 4 billion metric tons of agricultural waste per year into biogas to help manage waste and reduce environmental impacts on waterways. Using digestate rather than chemical fertilizers will be a key part of the program’s goals that fits in line with policy to freeze growth in chemical fertilizers by 2020. The details of the subsidy program have not yet been outlined.
