Ethanol prices jump to two-week high as EPA allows E15 to start early

September 4, 2017 |

In Washington, the Environmental Protection Agency decided that gas stations in 38 states could switch over to E15 two weeks early in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, a move that saw the market jump to a two-week high in anticipation of increased demand. That follows a one-month low hit last Wednesday. The impact on the market is expected to be short-lived but is seen as helpful nonetheless. Freight delays due to the hurricane may create bottlenecks that could see ethanol plants bring forward maintenance shut downs in an effort to ease out the flow.
