Platts sees Brazil producing more ethanol in H2 August thanks to wet weather

September 11, 2017 |

In Brazil, a Platts survey estimates that wet weather will have led to more ethanol production during the second half of August with analysts seeing more than 51% of the likely 41.95 million metric ton crush going towards ethanol rather than sugar. Since August 4, sugar prices have only paid better than ethanol prices for two days, helping to encourage mills to produce more ethanol. Hydrous production should be around 6.5% higher on the year at 1.043 billion liters while anhydrous production should jump 12% on the year at 821.9 million liters.
