Biodiesel consumption jumps in Spain but ethanol continues to slip

In Spain, biodiesel’s come back continued in July with consumption of nearly 100,000 metric tons, up more than 18% on the year and ticking higher than June by almost 1%. As a result, blending rose to 4.86% on the back of falling fossil diesel sales, compared to 4.17% last year and 4.77% in June. Ethanol, however, isn’t enjoying the same increase in popularity with consumption falling 19% on the year to 17,666 tons, down 17% from June. Blending fell to 3.88% in July while gasoline sales rose, compared to 4.68% last year and 4.97% in June.
