Ethanol production down from prior week

In Washington, D.C., the Renewable Fuels Association reports that according to EIA data, ethanol production averaged 1.047 million barrels per day (b/d)—or 43.97 million gallons daily. That is down 13,000 b/d from the week before. The four-week average for ethanol production decreased to 1.050 million b/d for an annualized rate of 16.10 billion gallons. Stocks of ethanol remained unchanged from last week at 21.1 million barrels. Imports of ethanol were 36,000 b/d after zero imports last week. This marks the third week in less than two months that volumes were recorded, although imports have been logged in only four of the past 55 weeks.

Average weekly gasoline demand rebounded by 5.0% to 404.0 million gallons (9.619 million barrels) daily. This is equivalent to 147.5 gallons annualized. Refiner/blender input of ethanol decreased 2.4% to 901,000 b/d, equivalent to 13.81 billion gallons annualized and a 27-week low. Expressed as a percentage of daily gasoline demand, daily ethanol production decreased to 10.88%.
