European T2 ethanol prices jump to one-month high despite October bringing more supplies

September 19, 2017 |

In the Netherlands, European T2 ethanol prices are seeing some recovery thanks to maintenance season that took some production capacity offline, bringing prices back up to one-month highs. Beet-based ethanol producers are expected to ramp up production come October after the European beet sugar quota system ends, but the higher prices have taken that increased supply availability into account. Backwardation remains a prominent feature in the market while some train-barge swaps are putting pressure on the market in some areas.
