Canaplan sees 2016/17 Brazilian ethanol production at 24.8 billion liters

September 21, 2017 |

In Brazil, Canaplan expects ethanol production to reach 24.8 billion liters this season, a billion liters higher than its previous estimate, as mills switch to more ethanol than sugar production. As a result, sugar production could fall by as much as 1 million metric tons. With growing demand for ethanol, as demonstrated by an expected increase to 1.3 billion liters from 1.1 billion liters previously, mills are likely to continue favoring ethanol over sugar as the sugar market globally is well supplied.
