China could import up to 20 million tons of corn annually to meet E10

September 21, 2017 |

In China, imports of as much as 20 million metric tons of corn could be needed annually to supply animal feed plants in the southern part of the country in the ramp up to the new E10 policy announced earlier this month. Corn located closer to the corn-growing areas is likely to be absorbed by ethanol producers, producing a supply gap that will drive the demand for imports. As much as 35 million tons of corn will be needed annually to satisfy future ethanol demand.
