EPA ponders slashing biodiesel blending 15% in 2018 and 2019

In Washington, the Environmental Protection Agency said it is seeking comments to potentially lower the biodiesel blending requirement by 15% for 2018 and 2019 under the Renewable Fuel Standard, a move that pushed down canola, soy and palm oil prices as a result. The idea is being floated as a way to compensate for reduced imports from Argentina and Indonesia but there are concerns the policy could hinder the recovery of the biodiesel industry that the anti-dumping duties were meant to address.
