Greater Hyderabad’s biodiesel bus plans dashed by lack of biodiesel supplies

October 23, 2017 |

In India, consumption of biodiesel for the 18 buses of the Greater Hyderabad zone of State Road Transport Corporation meant to run on B10 and B20 has been put on hold and are currently running on fossil diesel only because Southern Bio-diesel Limited at Narayanpur stopped supplying biodiesel a year ago without giving reason. The transport company is running at a loss because fossil diesel is more expensive than biodiesel. Despite the lack of supplies, it is looking to buy more biodiesel buses and is currently trialing two Scania biodiesel buses running on B100.
