BNEF says there have been no Big Oil investments in biofuels this year so far

October 25, 2017 |

In New York, a new report from Bloomberg New Energy Finance shows that despite oil majors continuing to invest heavily in renewable energy, investment in biofuels continues to decline. Not just decline, but reach absolutely zero so far this year after peaking at six deals in both 2006 and 2008. Just one or two deals per year were seen for the past three years but the oil price crash in 2014 has kept investors out of biofuels more often than not. Most of Big Oil’s renewable energy investments have gone to solar, followed by wind.
