ADM sees China importing ethanol and corn for E10 as it looks towards 2G

November 2, 2017 |

In China, Archer Daniels Midland believes the country will be a major importer of US corn and ethanol in its three-year run up to an E10 mandate in 2020 that will see ethanol demand increase more than five-fold to 12 million metric tons from the current 2.6 million. With the aim to rely on advanced biofuels by 2025, the mandate isn’t expected to encourage investment in more conventional biofuel production capacity which will see more ethanol imports as stop-gap measure until 2G plants come online.
