US seen leading Philippines’ ethanol imports in 2018—again

In the Philippines, a USDA Gain report estimates ethanol imports could jump more than 8% in 2018 to 325 million liters from the current 300 million liters while domestic production is only seen reaching 280 million liters from 274 million liters last year. With two new ethanol plants coming online this year, total installed production capacity should reach 397 million liters. The US is expected to remain the main origin for ethanol imports, followed by Australia and South Korea.
