In China, Clariant is looking for local partners to license its sunliquid advanced biofuel technology in the country to help reach the E10 blending mandate set for 2020 with an eye on advanced biofuels for 2025. In addition, the government wants to see a 50,000 metric ton per year advanced biofuel demonstration facility set up, so Clariant is vying for the slot. The company says China’s 800 million tons of agricultural residues produced annually could be converted into 150 million tons of sunliquid fuel.
