EU’s single palm oil certification seen stricter than RSPO Next

In Malaysia, an advisor to the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil says he expects the European Union’s single certification scheme for palm oil to be much stricter than the RSPO Next put out last year that tightens the requirements beyond the standard certification. He disagrees that governments should drive such certifications and should instead be consumers who decide what eco labels go on products. The role ISCC will or will not play in a future scenario with a single palm oil certification is yet to be seen.
