Canada looking to go E15 in early 2018

November 16, 2017 |

In Canada, the federal government is exploring an increase to its ethanol blending specifications to 15% from the current 10%, a move that is currently under consideration by a technical committee that could see the policy shift implemented in early 2018. Currently the ethanol mandate is for 5% while fuel is almost always blended at 6% or higher. Going to E15 would allow fueling stations to offer higher blends in line with the US but wouldn’t change the mandate.
