In Australia, the Australian Renewable Energy Agency has awarded an A$11.9 million loan for a project that would implement Ethtec’s cellulosic ethanol technology in a 30 million liter per year facility. The project, developed in conjunction with the University of Newcastle, the local council and Chinese investment company Jiangsu Jintongling Fluid Machinery Technology, will use sugar cane waste, forestry residue and cotton gin trash as feedstock. The region has traditionally been a coal mining region but is looking to the bioeconomy as an opportunity to diversify.
