U.S. ethanol production beats previous record with highest rate of output ever recorded

In Washington, D.C., ethanol production averaged 1.074 million barrels per day (b/d)β€”or 45.11 million gallons daily, according to government data released and analyzed by the Renewable Fuels Association. That is up 20,000 b/d from the week before. As a result, ethanol production experienced the highest rate of output ever recorded, besting the previous record (set the week of Jan. 27, 2017) by a whopping 13,000 b/d. The four-week average for ethanol production increased to a record 1.06 million b/d for an annualized rate of 16.25 billion gallons. Stocks of ethanol were 21.9 million barrels. That is a 1.9% increase from last week and a 22-week high. There were zero imports recorded for the second week in a row.

Average weekly gasoline demand increased 4.6% to a 10-week high of 403.0 million gallons (9.595 million barrels) daily. This is equivalent to 147.1 billion gallons annualized. Refiner/blender input of ethanol increased 0.2% to 920,000 b/d, equivalent to 14.1 billion gallons annualized. Expressed as a percentage of daily gasoline demand, daily ethanol production decreased to 11.19%.
