Brazilian sugar mills keep their eyes on ethanol as sales soar 36% in H1 November

November 27, 2017 |

In Brazil, sugar mills continue to put their focus on ethanol production instead of sugar as sales for the fuel soared 36% during H1 November. About 57.45% of sugarcane crushed during the period was used for ethanol production with 1.06 billion liters produced. That’s down from the 1.57 billion liters produced during the second half of October but the winding down of the crush is normal for this time of year. With gasoline prices up more than 20% since July, hydrous ethanol remains competitive so sales will continue to increase.
