Austrian NGO slams aviation biofuels as “dangerous” greenwashing

In Austria, Finance and Trade Watch argue in their new report that aviation biofuels and other cleaner initiatives by the aviation industry to reduce their environmental footprint is just green washing because they say the goals set are unachievable. They specifically refer to aviation biofuel as “dangerous.”

“We come to the conclusion that the current green strategies in the aviation sector turn out to be greenwashing. They sound good, but they are based on unrealistic objectives or on compensation, so that with the least cost, others are paid to avoid emissions elsewhere. This is modern indulgence and unfortunately does not work in practice,” criticized Magdalena Heuwieser of FT Watch.
