European Commission sees rapeseed demand falling significantly by 2030/31

In Belgium, Reuters reports that a new European Commission analysis shows demand for rapeseed waning significantly over the next decade in response to lower use for biodiesel following policy proposals to the Renewable Energy Directive that caps the use of crop-based biofuels at just 3.8% by 2030. For the 2030/31 crop year, the Commission expects a total of 6 million hectares will be planted with rapeseed across the EU, down from 6.5 million hectares that have been the average for the past five seasons.
