Proton Power sheds light on proposed West Virginia drop-in diesel project

January 24, 2018 |

In West Virginia, Proton Power says it plans to use a completely different system for the proposed wood waste-based facility in Greenbrier County than the one it developed in California that suffered from sulfur challenges that kept it from meeting air quality conditions. Using a gasification system, the project aims to produce 6.5 million gallons of diesel annually along with 7,200 tons of biochar. Project developers were also looking at potential sites in Alabama but the local economic development agency offered sufficient incentives to lure the project to West Virginia.
