Corn ethanol king during Brazil’s sugarcane interharvest season

January 25, 2018 |

In Brazil, domestic corn-based ethanol is quickly becoming king during the sugarcane interharvest season with 30.55 million liters of the 42.5 million liters coming from corn during the first half of January. With most of the new corn ethanol production capacity coming from Mato Grasso, making it too far to think of exports, demand from the domestic market is expected to be enough to make investments worth the effort. Sugarcane mills are looking to start the crush early in March if the weather allows.
