In Washington, the Environmental Defense Fund’s new report “In Demand: Clean Energy, Sustainability and the New American Workforce” says that 48% of 770,000 people working in renewable energy jobs at the start of 2017 were working in bioenergy, the largest energy type and above solar or wind that together equaled 466% of the total. Biodiesel saw a big jump from the previous year with a 23% jump to 61,000 jobs. Overall, the report says that clean energy jobs outnumber coals and gas jobs 1.5:1 while coal jobs have only a quarter of the clean energy jobs.
