Brazil ethanol imports from US could fill quota during Q1

February 6, 2018 |

In Brazil, the US could export 250,000 cubic meters of ethanol during February and potentially another 200,000 cu m in March thanks to a wide open trading arbitrage with as much as 600,000 cu m to 712,000 cu m landing during Q1. US ethanol prices are at an 12-year low while Brazilian ethanol prices are steadily rising thanks to the inter-harvest period but supplies are getting caught up with logistical bottlenecks. Estimates tag exports post-March at no more than 140,000 cu m.
