Malaysia thankful for Spain’s support to not ban palm oil for biodiesel

In Spain, Malaysia’s plantations ministers met with national authorities regarding the proposed ban on palm oil for biodiesel production across Europe and were pleased the European country is opposed to the policy shift. Spain is the second-largest palm oil importer in Europe following the Netherlands and says its biodiesel industry—which uses palm oil for 70% of its biodiesel feedstock—would be negatively impacted by the move. As a result, Spain believes the policy could go against WTO rules.
