Seasonal boost in glycerin prices from deicing demand to begin cooling off

February 14, 2018 |

In Texas, ICIS reports that the boost biodiesel producers have benefited from over the cold winter months thanks to demand for crude glycerin used to de-ice roads will now begin to wane as spring approaches. The bump in demand typically slows down by mid-March and buyers see no reason why this year should be any different. The fall in demand is typically matched by an increase in supply as biodiesel producers ramp up in late winter, but a lack of biodiesel credit for 2018 means production will likely wait a bit longer until March or even April.
