Ethanol production on the up as it hits 8-week high

In Washington, D.C., ethanol production averaged 1.068 million barrels per day (b/d)—or 44.86 million gallons daily, which is up 52,000 b/d from the week before and an eight-week high, according to EIA data analyzed by the Renewable Fuels Association. The four-week average for ethanol production increased slightly to 1.045 million b/d for an annualized rate of 16.02 billion gallons. Stocks of ethanol were 22.8 million barrels. That is a 0.4% decrease from last week. There were zero imports recorded for the eleventh straight week.

Average weekly gasoline demand decreased 0.6% to 378.1 million gallons (9.002 million barrels) daily. This is equivalent to 138.0 billion gallons annualized. Refiner/blender input of ethanol rose 0.3% to 885,000 b/d—the largest weekly volume this year, equivalent to 13.57 billion gallons annualized. The ethanol content in gasoline supplied to the market averaged 9.83%, up from 9.74% and the highest in five weeks. Expressed as a percentage of daily gasoline demand, daily ethanol production increased to 11.86%.
