In Argentina, Reuters reports that Archer Daniels Midland may not be interested in Bunge’s sugar assets but it certainly wants the company’s four soybean crushing facilities with 18,000 metric tons of daily capacity, along with those in Brazil. A full year of losses for the world’s largest soybean crusher is seen as too difficult to come back from so is looking to offload its assets. US competition regulators may expect ADM to shed some of its own oilseed crushing capacity at home if it wants the green light to buy up Bunge.
