In Texas, Platts reported new USDA data showing lower corn consumption for ethanol in January compared with December, down 2.4% to 476.129 million bushels, but the figure was still slightly higher than January 2017. More than 90% of the corn consumed was for dry milling while the remainder was wet milling. Ethanol production remains the largest consumer of US corn at about 37.9% of total consumption during the current marketing year that began September 1.
