Sakol Energy closes 3 bioenergy deals in 3 months

March 11, 2018 |

In Thailand, natural gas provider, Sakol Energy, is on a role with three bioenergy deals in the last three months following it’s listing in Thailand’s stock market. Sakol is moving towards becoming an integrated power producer and acquired Mae Krating Biomass Power Plant. They plan on starting construction as soon as possible and to start commercial operations by the middle of 2019.

Sakol also acquired 75% of shares in RE Biofuel Co Ltd, a compressed bio methane project last month. That project uses waste from the tapioca factory as feedstock which after conversion can be used as fuel for vehicles. Sakol plans to launch another five compressed bio methane projects over the next few years due to the large amount of waste from tapioca factories and sugar mills in the area that can be used as feedstock for the compressed bio methane.
