India to blend record ethanol volumes this year

March 12, 2018 |

In India, a record 1.39 billion liters of ethanol will be blended during 2017/18, more than double the 665 million liters blended the year prior, which will achieve a more than 4% blending ratio with gasoline for the year. Although a 5% blending mandate has been in place for several years, recently increased to 10%, challenges in the ethanol procurement system by oil marketing companies has kept national blending goals at bay. The long awaited new biofuel policy is expected to be released soon which will add more incentives for production, especially for advanced biofuels produced from crop waste.
