California LFCS carbon dioxide prices crumble as CARB seeks to slow progress towards 2030 goals

March 14, 2018 |

In California, Bloomberg reports that carbon dioxide prices for the state’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard’s compliance program have been crumbling in light of the Air Resources Board’s rejigging of the fuels policy that would see less ambitious carbon cuts through 2030. Prices for CO2 were quoted in early March at $74 per metric ton, the lowest since December, against February’s record high of $153 per ton. A court ruling made earlier this week would freeze incentives through next year.
