Brazilian sugar mills go whole hog on ethanol production during H1 April

April 26, 2018 |

In Brazil, Reuters reports that sugar mills went gung ho on ethanol production during the first half of April, with 993 million liters produced during the two week period, taking up a whopping 68.5% of the more than 22.21 million metric tons of sugarcane crushed during the period. The volume includes 26.8 million liters of ethanol produced from corn. Mills crushed just 17.7 million tons of cane during the same period last year but thanks to the focus on ethanol production, sugar volumes remained steady at 714,000 tons.
