Andeavor saves $100 million over two years from “RIN savings”

May 8, 2018 |

In New York state, Reuters reports that despite the Environmental Protection Agency granting three of its refineries hardship waivers so they didn’t have to comply with their 2016 RIN requirements under the Renewables Fuel Standard, Andeavor reported $100 million in savings during 2016 and 2017 as a result of lower biofuel compliance costs. The reporting didn’t mention the hardship waiver specifically as the reason for the savings nor was it mentioned how the savings were earned in 2017 when the waiver was just for 2016. The company’s net profits hit $1.4 billion in 2017.
