April RIN production slightly higher but D5 production falls by a third

May 21, 2018 |

In Washington, Platts reports that Environmental Protection Agency data shows RIN generation rose slightly in April to 1.244 billion, about 0.29% higher than in March. The increase can be attributed to 4.77 million more D4 biomass-based diesel RINs generated during the month. Cellulosic D3 RINs also rose slightly to 20.67 million RINs. Despite the steady production, D5 advanced biofuels RIN production fell by a third to 6.6 million RINs. The loss was roughly equal to the volume increase for RINs overall.
