Australian drivers rushing towards premium fuel as they reject E10

In Australia, a vehicle emissions expert says the government hasn’t gone far enough to make E10 sufficiently cheaper than premium fuel to compensate for the lower energy content supplied by the ethanol. Instead of making fuel cheaper for drivers, she claims drivers are forced to go for more expensive premium fuel by default. In New South Wales where E10 is implemented, drivers have made a hard shift towards premium fuel which now accounts for nearly 50% of fuel consumption rather than about a quarter the year prior.
