Ethanol production keeps climbing to 26 week high

In Washington, D.C., ethanol production averaged 1.072 million barrels per day (b/d)—or 45.02 million gallons daily, according to government data released this morning and analyzed by the Renewable Fuels Association. Output grew 8,000 b/d over the week before, climbing to a 26-week high. The four-week average for ethanol production lifted to 1.057 million b/d—the highest of the year—for an annualized rate of 16.20 billion gallons. Stocks of ethanol were 21.7 million barrels. That is a 0.5% drawdown from last week. There were zero imports recorded for the 29th week in a row.

Average weekly gasoline demand rallied by 4.3% to 408.7 million gallons (9.731 million barrels) daily. This is equivalent to 149.18 billion gallons annualized. Refiner/blender input of ethanol improved 1.3% to 947,000 b/d—equivalent to 14.52 billion gallons annualized, bolstering ethanol demand to a 43-week high. However, the overall ethanol content in gasoline supplied to the market averaged 9.73%, down from 10.03% the prior week and 10.08% a year ago. Expressed as a percentage of daily gasoline demand, daily ethanol production declined to 11.02%.
