Japanese May ethanol imports rise 12% over April but down slightly on year

In Japan, Platts reports that May ethanol imports fell nearly 2% on the year but were up 12% over April at 70,313 cu m. More than 42% of 58,384 cu m of undenatured ethanol imports came from Pakistan, while Brazilian imports accounted for more than 38%. The two origins bounce back and forth as to whom is the top exporter to Japan, with Brazil currently on top at 48.65% of the total 276,208 cu m of undenatured ethanol while Pakistan represents nearly 23.5%.
