July 3, 2018 |

In North Dakota, thanks to a $83,810 grant from the North Dakota Industrial Commission, Midwest AgEnergy Group are looking at opportunities to use local barley as feedstock for ethanol but also for protein concentrate as fish feed to supply the growing aquaculture industry, making it the first ethanol producer in the state to potential diversify from corn. If the project goes through as an add-on to the Dakota Spirit AgEnergy facility in Spiritwood, the $20 million investment would use 5 million bushels of barley annually produce 7.5 million gallons of ethanol and 20,000 tons of feed.
